Introducing Solution Templates
The range of monitor types available with SiteScope give you flexibility in monitoring a variety of systems and services. With the increasing complexity of current network applications, it is difficult to know what is the most effective way of monitor key systems and services. SiteScope Solution Templates are designed to facilitate deployment of performance and availability monitoring optimized for specific applications and services.

About Solution Templates
Solution templates are special monitor sets that you use to deploy multi-tiered, system availability and performance monitoring for the IT elements supporting key business services. The solution sets incorporate best practice expertise in the selection of elements and components to monitor which reduces the need to develop this expertise within your organization.
The following table lists Solution Templates available in SiteScope. The following sections contain more information about each solution template and the solution specific monitor types.

Solution templates deploy a combination of standard SiteScope monitor types and solution specific monitors with settings that are optimized for monitoring the availability, performance, and health of the target application or system. For example, the solutions for Microsoft Exchange monitoring include performance counter, event log, MAPI, and Exchange application specific monitor types.
Working with Solution Templates
The following is an overview of the steps for using Solution Templates in SiteScope.
- Request the applicable Solution license from Mercury Interactive sales.
- Enter the license into the SiteScope product using the General Preferences page.
- Review the system requirements and parameters needed to deploy the solution template. See the applicable solution deployment documentation for this information.
- Open or create a monitor group into which you want to add the solution monitors
- Select the applicable Solution Template
- Complete the Solution Template form as indicated by entering the requested parameters
- Verify the deployment of the solution monitors
- Configure alerts for the newly created monitors
- Configure reports for the newly created monitors
